Twickenham’s Lost Breweries Homebrew Competition 2025
Feel free to combine what you see with your own historical research to create a beer that reflects Twickenham’s brewing past in a way that excites you. This homebrew competition is all about having fun, exploring history, and celebrating the discoveries we’ve made in our documentary. Brewers are
invited to create beers inspired by styles from the late 1800s to early 1900s, using historically influenced methods and ingredients where possible.Eligibility
Open to all homebrewers, including commercial brewers, provided the beer is brewed on a homebrew-scale kit. Be honest!
All entries must be handcrafted, using ingredients available to the general public, and brewed with private, non-commercial equipment.
Beers should be inspired by brewing traditions from the late 1800s to early 1900s, but you don’t need to use all historical ingredients—just the best you can get!
No entry fee—this competition is about learning, brewing, and having fun.
One beer entry per person, and participants must be 18 or older.

Historical Inspiration & Creativity (5 points) – Brewers must submit a short note explaining the beer they chose to brew and why. Judges will consider the inspiration behind the brew as well as execution.

Fuggles – A British classic, dating back to the late 19th century.
Goldings – One of England’s most traditional and respected hop varieties.
